Kunye Foundation is guided by a volunteer board of non-executive directors who oversee operations, protect assets, and ensure the Foundation stays true to its mission and accountable to donors
and beneficiaries.
The board includes past school parents, governing body members, and a former principal, all serving in good faith with integrity and care. Our Board Values are:

Chairperson
Karen Neill
Karin has a BA in Social Studies and an MPhil in Development Studies. She is the Governance and Accountability Lead at FHI 360 UK, a political economist and development professional with 19 years of experience working on governance and accountability issues across diverse, often fragile and transitional contexts.

Fundraising
Neil Hellman
Neil holds a BSc in Mining Engineering and is an entrepreneur with 35+ years’ experience across engineering, trade, manufacturing, and product design, having founded high-growth businesses in multiple sectors. A strong advocate for education and social impact, he chaired the Llandudno Primary School governing body (2018–2024) and is committed to ethical leadership, conservation, and sustainability.

Beneficiary Selection
Denise Erasmus
Denise brings over 40 years of experience in education, including 19 years as principal of Llandudno Primary School. With a BA in Primary Education and strong leadership training, she combines deep classroom expertise with a passion for holistic learning, championing outdoor education, creativity, and character development.

Secretary
Sandy Mattison
Sandy has a BSc Hons in Chemical Engineering, an MBA and is a qualified mediator. She gained 20 years of experience in senior management in large corporates. She now focuses her efforts on philanthropic initiatives with a particular focus on quality education in STEM subjects.

Finance
John O'Callahgan
John is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and Group CFO of a multinational spend-management software group, with 30+ years’ experience in finance, operations, and private-equity-backed growth. He has led cross-border mergers and integrations in South Africa and the United States, served on local primary school governing bodies, and currently chairs his local City Improvement District.
